I have had my 00 reg Ford Focus for a couple of weeks now, the only problem I have with it, is the heaters in the car dont work, no blowers etc. I took it to my local garage and they said it would cost me £82 to fix. so i asked them what it was and they said oh just a fan resistor. After a quick check on the internet i found this was a very common fault with the Focus.
It took some searching but I read enough to see that even someone like me with no experience could sort it out. So I told the garage not to bother and did it myself saving myself £62 after buying the part.
I wrote this guide in the hope that oneday somebody else reads it and saves themselves some money. Honest It is a simple fix! If you can change a light bulb you can do this.
It is normally the resistor if
the fans dont blow
they only work on one setting
or like me the garage tells you its the resistor ;)
The resistor is located behind the glove box on the pasenger side, in the picture its the flat blue oblong thing (I told you i was not technical lol) its held in with one philips screw and has a lead plugged into it.
just take the the plug off and unscrew it, put the new one in then replace the glove box.
I really hope this helps you.
